The Basics…
Body & Brain Holistic Yoga is not your typical yoga program. Like other yoga traditions, it promotes a healthy integration of mind and body through proper breathing, stretching, and other physical exercise. Energy awareness and key aspects of martial arts training are also incorporated into Dahn Yoga.
The most important uniqueness, however, is a focus on our brain’s potential through utilization of the 5 steps of Brain Education System Training, or BEST 5. Part of the field of Brain Education, Body & Brain Holistic Yoga is a holistic-health, brain-focused, and energy-circulating training system, whose mission is to empower individuals to become more healthy, happy and peaceful.
Body & Brain Holistic Yoga often incorporates the techniques of Dahn Yoga. Dahn is the Korean word for energy, vitality or origin of life. Dahn Yoga is the study of energy (Ki, Chi) and how to use it for personal empowerment by restoring and maintaining optimal mind-body communication.
Body & Brain Holistic Yoga methods can be traced back more than 5,000 years into Korean history. The training methods were modernized 30 years ago by Ilchi Lee to help people best by high-stress levels, and incorporate the latest brain-research findings.
Body & Brain Holistic Yoga classes include stretching, breathing exercises, meditation, martial arts, brain wave vibration, and energy training. Body & Brain Holistic Yoga also offers special programs, workshops and retreats.
All Body & Brain Holistic Yoga courses involve a combination of physical exercises, meditation, lectures, and games. At any time, if any component of the training is uncomfortable, practitioners may sit out or communicate their discomfort with a member of the training staff.
These programs are designed to help the practitioners take an active role in their personal development and access the unlimited potential of their brain. Body & Brain Holistic Yoga favors a measured approach, supporting and encouraging practitioners to challenge perceived limitations, while maintaining sufficient awareness of their capacity so as to avoid injury.
Body & Brain Holistic Yoga welcomes everyone to “start from where you are,” and we can help you modify exercises to make them better suit injuries, chronic pains, or other physical challenges. Since every member has a right to exercise in a comfortable and unobstructed environment, simple etiquette rules and practices are observed by all members. These courtesies have a positive effect on the experience of all who participate.
Body & Brain Holistic Yoga training also includes space and time for practitioners to converse with each other about their experiences, concerns, and successes, over hot tea after practice. The warm tea and sharing after exercise enhances the healing quality of the session.
Worldwide, there are more than 600 Centers, with more than 300,000 active members in South Korea, United States, Canada, Japan, United Kingdom, Germany, Russia and Brazil).
