Flowing River Qigong and Yoga

Description        

Welcome to my website! My name is Marie Theriault, and I offer Yoga and Qigong classes in my private studio and at various locations in NC and SC including Anytime Fitness in Wesley Chapel, CMC-Union Hospital in Monroe, Levine Cancer Institute in Ballantyne, Integra Wellness Center in Indian Land, and seasonally at libraries in NC and SC. Various styles of Yoga are offered including Chair Yoga, Yoga Flow, and Yoga for Cancer. Please go to the Events List section of this website to see the full class schedule.

Qigong classes are a nice option for those who have found Yoga uncomfortable and challenging and are looking for an exercise experience that brings a deep level of healing to the mind and the body through flowing, meditative movements.

All classes help to lessen and relieve pain, bring peace to the mind, and support physical and emotional healing.

Profile and Credentials        

Marie is a Registered Yoga Teacher having completed 200 hours of training in a Yoga Alliance approved Integrated Hatha Yoga program. She is also a graduate of the Yoga for Cancer (y4c) teacher training course which provides quality support through Yoga for cancer patients and survivors to help them live longer, healthier and happier lives. The philosophy is that true compassion comes through knowledge and understanding of the unique challenges - both physical and emotional, that cancer patients face, and to provide guidance and leadership to help them achieve a healing Yoga practice. The Yoga for Cancer classes will stimulate the immune system through movement, improve flexibility and strengthen bones, create a sense of empowerment to reduce anxiety, and support overall health.

Marie is also a certified instructor in the Chinese energy healing art of Qigong (similar to Tai Chi) which blends slow, gentle movements, synchronized breathing and mind focus to strengthen the body's natural ability to heal, both physically and emotionally. Qigong movements are flowing, easy to learn exercises that help relieve physical aches and pains, mental tension, and provide stress relief and overall mind/body fitness. A Qigong practice can be used as a type of preventative medicine to keep the body healthy but can also assist in self-healing for health challenges of all kinds. Marie has completed 600 hours in certified Qigong training, teaches weekly classes, and presents and participates in workshops on various holistic, health-related topics.

Marie has also completed the first two levels of the Healing Touch Certification Program offered at Carolinas College of Health Sciences and also has a certification in Thai Yoga Bodywork.

Marie is committed to offering her students and clients a unique and gentle way to exercise, manage stress and live healthier lives. She is passionate about helping people discover the many health benefits of Yoga Flow, Chair Yoga, Yoga for Cancer, and Qigong.

Work Hours and Fee Schedule        

Qigong classes at my in-home studio are one hour and the rate is $10. per person. Private Yoga and Qigong sessions at my in-home studio are $30 for one hour. Chair Yoga and Lunch Break Yoga Classes in Indian Land, SC        

A Gentle Chair Yoga class is offered on Tuesdays at 10:00 am, and a Lunch Break Yoga class is offered on Tuesdays at 12:30pm at Integra Wellness Center in Indian Land, SC. The Chair Yoga class includes both sitting and standing exercises and is suitable for all levels including seniors and beginners. The Lunch Break Yoga class includes a rejuvenating blend of adaptable stretches and poses to strengthen and lengthen the body and unwind from tense workplace situations and other daily activities. Taking time for yourself mid-day can improve your mood, help manage stress levels, and give you more focus for the rest of your day. Yoga Flow daytime and evening classes in Wesley Chapel, NC        

Yoga Flow mixed-level classes are offered at Anytime Fitness in Wesley Chapel at 6:00 pm on Wednesday evenings and at 9:30 am on Friday mornings. All yoga classes include centering and warm-up movements, standing and floor postures, and relaxation for several minutes. The classes will focus on proper alignment and safety in performing the postures. Please bring a yoga mat, blanket or towel and water to drink. Props are provided. Yoga or Chair Yoga/Qigong Classes for Cancer Patients & Caregivers at LCI Ballantyne & Monroe        

Carolinas Healthcare System is excited to offer free Yoga for Cancer classes to Levine Cancer Institute patients, caregivers and staff at LCI Ballantyne in Charlotte and free Chair Yoga and Qigong classes at LCI Monroe located on the CMC Union Campus.
These classes are open to cancer patients whether newly diagnosed, in treatment, in recovery, or beyond who are currently being seen or followed by a Carolinas Healthcare System or Levine Cancer Institute physician. Caregivers are welcome to attend for free as well. The Ballantyne classes are held on Monday evenings at 5:30pm. The Monroe classes are held on select Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:15am. Qigong - morning classes in Wesley Chapel, NC and Indian Land, SC        

Qigong classes are offered weekly on Mondays at 10:00am at my studio in Wesley Chapel. Qigong is also offered on Tuesdays at 6:30pm and Thursdays at 10:00am at Integra Wellness in Indian Land, SC. The graceful movements of Qigong are easy to learn and very relaxing. Learn the basics of this powerful mind-body energy practice based on the principles of Chinese Medicine. Connect to and strengthen your body's natural ability to heal and become fit and healthy. You will experience increased flexibility, relief from stress and pain, and a sense of inner peacefulness.
