Manual Therapy Solutions of Fredericksburg

Description

No matter what your age, you can feel more comfortable in your body again: Eliminate chronic pain, Stand and walk taller, Stop "shrinking" as you age, Improve sports performance, Regain your sense of balance, Heal old injuries that nothing else has helped, Regain your flexibility, and Gain relief when chiropractic or massage isn't helping. Most of us have far more potential for abundant aliveness as we age than we think. Over the years we develop holding patterns in our bodies and impaired function due to overuse, accidents, sports injuries, prolonged periods of sitting, and stress. These holding patterns and structural imbalances are cumulative and compound each other over time. As we grow older, we often "shrink" in height and slowly lose flexibility. And we begin to experience chronic pain that is unresponsive to traditional medical treatments like prescription drugs. We try chiropractic, massage, or physical therapy but often only experience temporary relief - the pain either comes back or shows up in another area. But there is something you can do about it. At Manual Therapy Solutions, we offer Rolfing, Structural Integration, CranioSacral Therapy, SomatoEmotional Release, Quantum Touch, and other complimentary therapies to alleviate your chronic pain and help you regain a more comfortable and balanced body. Please visit our website for more information at www.manualtherapysolutions.com

We offer an integrative approach to manual therapy which combines an extensive repertoire of techniques with years of practical experience and an open, respectful and curious approach. Structural Integration - What is it and how was it developed?

Structural Integration is an original and scientifically validated bodywork series designed to achieve the goal of an integrated body, moving with grace and a minimum of effort. It was developed over 50 years ago by Dr. Ida P. Rolf, PhD. It is a re-education of the body through movement and touch. It enables the body to be supported and not dragged down by the force of gravity, and restores a remarkable amount of lift, length and flexibility. It is considered to be the "gold standard" of bodywork therapies. Clients repeatedly report relief from chronic pain, greater flexibility, a feeling of lightness and fluidity, better balance, increased breathing capacity, increased energy, better posture, often appearing taller & slimmer - some people actually re-gain 1 more inches in height. Clients also report positive psychological benefits - less stress, greater self-confidence, and improved ability to handle life’s changes and make difficult decisions.

How does Structural Integration work? All the major systems in your body - circulatory, digestive, nervous, musculoskeletal, and organs - are wrapped in the connective tissue called fascia. A healthy and balanced connective tissue system’s characteristics are flexibility, elasticity, length and resilience. Unfortunately, over the years, your tissue absorbs and responds to the negative force of overuse, accidents, sports injuries, prolonged periods of sitting at computers, illness, injury, emotional trauma and plain everyday stress. The result is shortening, thickening, and dehydrating of the tissue which impairs joint mobility and muscle function. You then feel chronic pain, stiffness, decreased flexibility and impaired movement. It is also this short, thickened, dehydrated tissue that causes you to “shrink” in height as you grow older.Working with you through movement and touch over 10 sessions, a practitioner systematically releases this short, thickened tissue, thereby restoring a remarkable amount of lift, length, and fluidity to your body. You then look and feel better.

Health Conditions

Although Dr. Rolf didn't originally conceive Structural Integration to be a healing modality, there are an enormous number of conditions which seem to be helped through Structural Integration. For example, clients have reported reduction or elimination of symptoms in conditions as diverse as:

Carpal Tunnel & Thoracic Outlet Syndromes
Osteoarthritis
TMJ Disorder
Chronic lower back pain
Fibromyalgia
Sports injuries like runner's heel (plantar fascitis) & knee pain
Neck pain, whiplash
Sciatica
Scoliosis in children
Scoliosis in adults
Other structural development problems in children
GERD (acid reflux)
Headaches, migraines

For women considering getting pregnant, Structural Integration is excellent for re-aligning the body, and particularly the pelvis for a more comfortable pregnancy.

For more information on these conditions and informative articles, please visit our website at www.manualtherapysolutions.com

Our other therapies include:

CranioSacral Therapy & SomatoEmotional Release
Muscle Energy Technique
Psychophysical Integration based on the work of Dr. Milton Trager, MD
Rosen Method
Zero Balancing
