Homeopathy is a 200 year old system of healing commonly used in Europe, India, and South America. The underlying philosophy is holistic--that is, the body, mind and emotions function as an integrated whole, and so symptoms of physical, mental and emotional disease must be understood in the context of the whole person. Derived from the plant, mineral and animal kingdoms, homeopathic remedies are capable of producing symptoms in healthy people, yet also help to resolve those same symptoms in people who are sick. The remedies cue the body and mind to recognize their imbalance, and in turn provoke an integrated healing response. By using a holistic approach, homeopathy supports the innate healing potential of the body, mind and emotions, resulting in a safe and natural return to health.

David A. Johnson is a certified classical homeopath and professional member of the North American Society of Homeopaths. His interest in homeopathy began after 10 years of working and teaching as a physician assistant. He completed his homeopathic training at the International Foundation for Homeopathy and the Northwestern Academy of Homeopathy, and has been seeing clients professionally since 1997. He teaches classes in first aid and acute homeopathy, and provides consultations for all ages and most physical, mental and emotional conditions.

Homeopathy recognizes one's capacity for responding to various internal and external challenges, as well as the capacity for growth and maturation. Whenever one is confronted by a challenge, the body and mind respond as best they can, according to instinct, learning, maturity, etc. Under normal circumstances one 'rebounds' from these stresses, hopefully a stronger and wiser person. However, when stresses are too strong or too prolonged, one can become 'stuck' in a sort of dysfunctional stress response, the symptoms of which are also defined as disease. Based on the history provided in the interview, Mr. Johnson works to understand the unique individuality of each person and their state of imbalance. A very specific remedy is chosen which cues recognition into the state of imbalance, and in turn provokes a deep and integrated self-healing response.
