Philosophy and Comments

"The most important thing for healing is the relationship of the practitioner, the spirits and the patient."
Claude Larre and Elisabeth Rochat de la Vallee

Nature has always been my greatest teacher and my work is based in the Five Elements and the Dao. My studies in the healing arts began as a child living in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Throughout my life, I have been blessed with the opportunity to study with accomplished teachers and masters of shamanism, Five Element theory, Jin Shin Jyutsu, Plant Spirit Medicine and Earth-based ritual. The greatest compliment to any teacher is that the student goes beyond the teachings of the master. I am very grateful that I have the rest of my life to work towards this goal! Since I began my practice based in the Five Elements over ten years ago, I have been both astounded and humbled by the potential of this work. The true potential of Five Element-based healing modalities goes beyond the resolution of illness and pathology. What this work offers is the complete manifestation of our authenticity and potential as human beings.

Jin Shin Jyutsu

Jin Shin Jyutsu is an ancient healing art from Japan that has experienced a reawakening in the 21st century. Combining a complex understanding of the energetic pathways of the body with simple techniques, Jin Shin Jyutsu restores balance and accesses the potential harmony that lies within all of us.

The beauty and strength of Jin Shin Jyutsu stems from the fact that the practitioner is not a 'doer’- not forcing the recipient to conform to a preconceived concept of health. Gentle application of hands to the various energy locks allows the balancing of the person’s innate energies.

Jin Shin Jyutsu is not a mechanical technique, but a physio-philosophy that relieves anxiety and stress, thus facilitating healing throughout the person .

Five Element Energetic Healing

The five phases of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water are the primal patterns of both Nature and humankind. They carry within them our destiny: the realization of our full potential.

Daoist Five Element theory poses that we walk through life with one of the Five Elements as our primary imprint. This energetic perspective gives us not only all the tools we need, but also shows where we may struggle in our lives. By supporting and strengthening the source element and the other elements within, we are able to move through the world with greater ease and well-being.

In a Five Element Energetic Healing session, the Elements and their interrelationships are assessed and harmonized, using light touch and sound. This encourages a return to authenticity at all levels of the bodymindspirit.

Plant Spirit Medicine

Plant Spirit Medicine is a system of healing that draws its roots from two ancient lineages– Oriental Five Element theory and multicultural shamanism.

From the Five Element lineage comes an understanding of the movements of Nature. From the shamanic lineage comes the potential for building relationship with the spirits of Nature and sharing this healing with others. In fact, the word ‘medicine’ used within this context comes from a Native American lineage where ‘medicine’ is anything which holds strength and understanding.

Plant Spirit Medicine supports well-being and the return to harmony by using the healing energies of appropriate plants (rather than the substance of the plants).
