Profile and Credentials

Susan Watson NBCR, AAED is a Board Certified Reflexologist, and a accredited educator through ACARET. Susan is the author of "Practical Reflexology", published by McGraw-Hill.

My interest in Reflexology began in the 1960's when my mother mentioned to her sister and brother-in-law, Dr. Elbert and Marjorie Hubbs, that I was having a bed-wetting problem at the age of 12. My uncle, who was a Doctor of Chiropractor and Reflexologist, and trained by Eunice Ingham, immediately began to manipulate pressure points on my feet. I remember it was painful in certain areas, and they would tell me, "That is your kidney area. We need to work out this pain to help your kidney".

I also felt a feeling of well-being come over me that I will never forget.

They taught me which area to press, and within a few short weeks the problem disappeared. I remembered the stories my uncle and aunt told me how they had helped many people with so many problems.

I had another aunt, Dorothy Gallaher who also inspired me. Aunt Dorothy was also a Reflexologist, trained by Eunice Ingham and Mildred Carter. She, too, had many stories to share about all the people she had helped to heal. From that time on, I wanted to be like them -- a Reflexologist. It is a wonderfully gratifying job, helping people feel better!

Susan Watson is an Internationally trained board Certified Reflexologist. She received her training from the International Institute of Reflexology in 1992 and certified in 1994, a school approved by American Reflexology Certification Board (ARCB), and she went on to be Board Certified through the American Reflexology Certification Board (ARCB) in 2001.

She also received training and certification from Father Joesf, advance training from Dr. Jesus Manzanares and Moving the Energy: Integrating Reflexology and Meridian Therapy workshop from Lilian Tibshraeny-Morten, Maternity reflexology, and Korean Hand Therapy.

In 1998-2005 she instructed a reflexology class for Northern Prairie School of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, in Sycamore, IL. She developed a 350 hour Reflexology certification program. They handed her two books to train the classes, and she wondered how she was going instruct with self-help books so she self-published a workbook for her classes.

In 2003-2005, Ms. Watson instructed reflexology for the Integrative Healing Arts Certificate program to Healthcare professionals at Rock Valley Community College.
