We first opened Luz De Vida (Light of Life) in 2001. LDV RESORT was funded in 2000. It was the dream of a grop of friends to create a place where people from around the world could experience the tranquility of nature and the thrill of adventure sports travel.

We have since created one of the most beautiful destinations in Costa Rica for comfort, tropical atmosphere, and true pampering. We offer a full yoga studio, surf lessons, Mi Spa´s shiatsu massage, pedicures, waxing,, reiki, hotstone and aromatherapy, facial treatments, and permanent makeup. We also offer monkey sightseeing and waterfall tours, snorkeling, mountain, and canopy tours, sportfishing, birdwatching, and drinks at the bar, salsa lessons, exotic cuisine, beach parties, and a complementary breakfast buffet.

Our split level beach bungalows provide all the comforts of home, perfect for a tropical surf vacation or a restful weekend in a unique destination. The porches are surrounded by lush gardens under ancient tropical trees.

The design of the bungalows was created with a costa rican flare, so that the lighting, art and wooden furniture add to the exotic feel. We were inspired by the craftsmanship of local artisans, the cozy ambiance of north american cottages and the natural materials of the jungle.

We have 2 bungalows for couples, 2 bungalows for 3 people, and one for 4 people. We have 8 cabins, four sleeping 5, and four sleeping 3.

Our Gourmet Restaurant offers some of he finest dining in the area. Located where the pool meets the Pacific it features beutiful ocean & poolside views. Its the perfect place to bring the whole famil ot have a romantic candle liht dinner.

Our french schooled chef serves a selection of modern American, French, Midle Eastern and Fusion plates with seaside accents. Featuring our famous homemade bread, incredible seafood platters & amazing desserts.We are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily.

The new Pooside Bar serves those who prefer to lunch outdoors or have a cocktail inside the pool while catching some sun. Both places feature a wide selection of music and tropical athmosphere.

SURFING MALPAIS

Malpaís's location between the Central Pacific area and Guanacaste means that it benefits from both the big south swells which hit the beaches south of Puntarenas during the wet season as well as the offshore "Papagayo" winds which create optimum conditions on the Guanacaste coast during the dry season. Another great advantage is the complete absence of crowds; this area is one of the last frontiers of surf exploration in Costa Rica.

WHEN LOCALS REFER TO MALPAIS, they mean the whole area between Cabo Blanco and Manzanillo. The best surf is found on the following beaches:

SURFING MALPAIS

Continue straight on at the crossroads to the beach and you'll see the peak right in front of you. A long right wall and shorter section left break over a gradually sloping sand bottom.

SURFING EL CARMEN

Turn right at the crossroads and continue 3 km. To "Bar la Lora Amarilla" and turn down to the beach. Santa Teresa tends to pick up more swell than El Carmen and holds shape better at low tide.

SURFING PLAYA HERMOSA

Next beach north from Santa Teresa, and even less crowded. Peaks all along the palm lined beach.
