The Rabbit Haven

Description

The Rabbit Haven was formed to achieve the following goals: To provide emergency rescue, shelter, medical care, foster care, and spay/neuter services for abandoned or endangered rabbits. To place these rabbits into permanent, safe, loving, indoor homes. To educate the public about rabbits, specifically their care, feeding and grooming; their medical and social needs; and their behaviors.

Profile and Credentials

The Rabbit Haven is a 501 c3 non-profit educational organization. Founded in 1991, the Rabbit Haven is a member of the House Rabbit Society, the Bay Area Shelter network, and the Virtual Pet Adoptions service. We associate with other rabbit education and support groups, such as the Rabbit Connection, The House Rabbit Society, and EtherBun. All Haven work is volunteer based. Funds are provided by individual donations. Veterinary care is provided by Creekside Veterinary Hospital in Soquel by Drs. Calvert, Hawklyn, and Sharp. We care for up to 30 rabbits at a time at various foster sites.

Philosophy and Comments

Rabbit Haven rescues injured and abandoned rabbits and accepts surrendered rabbits from the general public or the SPCA in Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, San Benito and Monterey Counties. Rabbit Haven works in the community, at schools, with our local SPCA shelter and other education groups to provide public education on rabbit care, feeding, grooming, medical needs, social requirements and behavioral information.

Work Hours and Fee Schedule

Adoption Fees. Male or female rabbit adoption fee is $45.00. Pairs are $60.00. We suggest a $50.00 donation to offset the cost of spay/neuter services (if done) and the care provided while your rabbit was in foster care. Donations are happily accepted and are tax-deductible. Visit our Adoption Showcase to see rabbits currently available for adoption. Call or email for an appointment to meet one of our adoptable bunnies or come by one of our adoption days at PetsMart in Santa Cruz, CA.

Adoption Days!

How You Can Help

As a 501 c3 non-profit educational organization, the Rabbit Haven depends on people like you to make a difference in the lives of abandoned rabbits. All Haven work is performed by volunteers, and its funding is derived primarily from individual donations. All donations are tax-deductible. See our Wish List for items you can donate to the Rabbit Haven Individual donations comprise the major source of funding for Rabbit Haven projects. You can help in two ways: Your tax-deductible donation can be sent to the following address: The Rabbit Haven P.O. Box 66594 Scotts Valley, CA 95067 Please make your check payable to "AVA/The Haven" and provide your complete name and mailing address so that we can send you a receipt for tax purposes. [Soon we will have a PayPal account so that we can accept donations online!] We are a California 501 c 3 nonprofit organization, and your donations are tax deductible to the extent the law allows. Corporate Matching grant program: As a California nonprofit, we are eligible for most companies' corporate matching grant programs. If you work for a company, ask your HR department if you have a matching grant program. How it works: If you, the employee, make a donation of $100.00, then your company will match your contribution with $100.00 from the company. We fill out all required paperwork and fax back to your company. Just let us know and send us the matching grant forms. With matching grant programs, your donation is doubled! You can also "donate while you shop" -- at no additional cost to you! Currently, Rabbit Haven has established agreements with CatalogCity.com and iGive.com, online shopping sites featuring hundreds of retailers that contribute a portion of their sales to non-profit organizations. All you have to do is visit one or both of these sites, follow the procedures to designate the Rabbit Haven as the organization you wish to support, and then shop to your heart's content.
