Diarrhea Explained (Possible causes of diarrhea )
Possible causes of diarrhea (Viral and Bacterial)

March 29th 2008 - A diarrhea is pretty much like your ordinary cold, the culprit is a virus. It’s like your stomach has caught a flu which is why the condition is sometimes referred to as “intestinal or stomach flu.” Viral gastroenteritis is the medical term they used to describe viral infection of your stomach. It may sound serious and dangerous but fortunately, you don’t have to worry much since viral gastroenteritis is a mild viral infection and usually goes away on its own in a couple of days or so.

The Norwalk virus, cytomegalovirus, viral hepatitis, enteric adenovirus, and the herpes simplex virus are the most common culprits of diarrhea.

However, viruses are not the only causes of diarrhea. Some of the other causes include:

· Infection by bacteria:
You can easily get diarrhea from the food you eat or water you drink. Bacteria like salmonella, shigella and Escherichia coli, staphylococcus, and Clostridium difficile can easily cause diarrhea.
