Rocky Mountain Institute of Healing Arts

Description

Rocky Mountain Institute of Healing Arts is located in beautiful Durango, Colorado. We provide 825-hour and 1025-hour massage therapy training programs, a 200-hour energy work program, and various continuing education classes for bodyworkers. Massage programs emphasize challenging education in the clinical and scientific aspects of massage and neuromuscular therapy along with support for exploration of the emotional, mental, and spiritual realms of bodywork.

Profile and Credentials

Rocky Mountain Institute of Healing Arts is Approved and Regulated by the Colorado Department of Higher Education, Division of Private Occupational Schools. Graduates oof our massage programs are eligible to sit for the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork exam. Recognized by ABMP--the programs meet or exceed requirements set forth by ABMP for membership at the Professional or Certified levels.

Philosophy and Comments

We believe students who are well educated in the clinical and scientific aspects of bodywork make better therapists. Therefore, we provide challenging and comprehensive courses in anatomy, physiology, pathology, structural kinesiology, postural analysis, and theory. Because we also believe that individuals who are aware and accepting of their inner worlds are more responsible healers, we provide students opportunities to explore their emotional and spiritual lives in a supportive environment. This framework provides a basis for working multidimensionally in bodywork. By placing an emphasis on quality of touch and centeredness in Swedish Massage, and on sensitivity of palpation and multi-dimensional causes of pathology in Neuromuscular Therapy, we ground academic knowledge in the physical realm. We believe that having "good hands" is a skill that can be taught and emphasize quality of touch in all our modalities.
