Description

Acupuncture is an ancient healing modality that balances the body's Qi, our vital life force, body/mind/spirit. NIH reported findings in 1997 that said that Acupuncture is a safe effective method to reduce or eliminate pain. Since that time, additional studies have been conducted by other respected institutions to track the amazing results of acupuncture treatments. Today Acupuncture is used to treat a wide range of illnesses and conditions including stress, pain, allergies, skin conditions, back pain, migraines, digestive, women's issues, chemotherapy and cancer-related conditions.

In addition to acupuncture, The Essential Wellness Centre also offers Massage, Healing Touch, Hot Stone Massage, and Psychotherapy.

Jan Edwards, M.Ac., L.Ac., is the founder and director of the Essential Wellness Centre. A member of the class of 1996, she received a Master of Acupuncture from Tai Sophia and an BA in English & French from the University of MD. Tai Sophia ia among the schools providing the highest level of acupuncture training available in the US which includes Five Element, TCM, Japanese and Korean techniques. She is a member of the Maryland Acupuncture Society, the Crofton Chamber of Commerce and the Bowie-Crofton Holistic Society. She has been a patient of acupuncture for 25 years.

Philosophy and Comments

Acupuncture calls the body to a state of balance, regardless of the symptom or illness. When our Qi energy, our vital life force, is in a state of harmony, we are healthy--at ease. When our bodies are out of balance, we are vulnerable--in a state of dis-ease. I work with patients to support them in achieving their own, natural and essential healing through acupuncture on a body/mind/spirit level. Our bodies are prone to healing.
