Profile and Credentials

Sarah McLean, best-selling author of Soul-Centered: Transform Your Life in 8 Weeks with Meditation, is an inspiring, contemporary meditation teacher who makes meditation accessible to everyone. She’s taught thousands of people worldwide to meditate, helping them to reduce stress, be more confident, and find more happiness. Her programs support those seeking fulfilling lives, better health, and inner peace. Audiences everywhere connect with her charismatic and authentic personality.

Sarah has studied the art and practice of meditation and mind-body health for 25 years. Her interest in wellness began when she trained as a medic and behavioral specialist with the U.S. Army, treating soldiers with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. After college she began working with Dr. Deepak Chopra. She studied and practiced the ancient wisdom of meditation and mind-body healing and became the founding education director for the Chopra Center for Wellbeing in California.

After eight years Sarah went on sabbatical and trained in a traditional ashram in India, studied with the Dalai Lama’s head monks in Dharamsala, was a two–year resident at a remote Zen Buddhist Center, and studied with Thich Nhat Hanh, author of The Miracle of Mindfulness. Sarah left the monastery to serve as the personal assistant to Gary Zukav, best-selling author of Seat of the Soul. She was then asked to direct Byron Katie’s School of the Work.

Sarah now lives and works in Sedona, Arizona, teaching meditation and directing the McLean Meditation Institute, an educational organization offering mindfulness and meditation training, self-discovery retreats, and a meditation teacher training program.
Organizations such as Proctor & Gamble, Perry Ellis International, Arizona Bar Association, Young President’s Organizations, Rand Worldwide, Berkshire Hathaway, and the Thunderbird School of Global Management have invited Sarah to inspire their staffs and executives to greater health and wellness through the practices of meditation and mindfulness.

Featured in the New York Times, Huffington Post, Chicago Tribune, and Fox Health News, Sarah is a frequent contributor to health and lifestyle publications. She was voted Arizona's favorite meditation leader by readers of Natural Awakenings and was awarded the Trailblazer recognition by the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO).

Philosophy and Comments

With a beginner's mind, you let go of being an expert & walk through the world with fresh eyes, open & innocent with a childlike curiousity. You empty your cup, making room to receive life as it meets your senses.
