Dena Carmosino has been attending births for 19 years. She is certified through the HypnoBirthing Institute and DONA (Doulas of North Amerieca) Dena has trained with a number of direct entry midwives as well as CNMs (certified nurse midwives). She has completed a two year program at Hands of Light and a short internship at Labor of Love Birth Center in Kingston Jamaica. Dena has done extensive work with VBAC families.

Birthsong offers a variety of educational options for the childbearing family. HypnoBirthing classes are held every month in Newton and Needham Ma. Classes are a total of 12 hours. This class is designed to teach you techniques that will help you release long held fears and anxieties around pregnancy, birth, and parenting. Once you have let go of these negative unhelpful thoughts and emotions, you will learn how to fill your mind with positive healthy thoughts and emotions. Since you are what you think and the body is a robot, this new way of thinking will allow your body to relax fully, allowing labor to go smoothly and with little or no discomfort. Your confidence in your body and in your ability to birth normally will grow. When women feel safe and confident in the birthing process, the need for pain medications and medical intervention is dramatically reduced. The result is a more joyful and safer experience for everyone.

A Doula provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support to the birthing mother and her partner, during her pregnancy, labor, and the initial postpartum period. Studies show that this kind of support reduces procedure rates and creates improved outcomes for both mother and baby. As your doula I honor and support you in whatever choices you make. I am highly skilled in nonconfrontational advocacy, and know how to assist my moms and dads in getting the kind of birth experience they deserve and desire.

Doula services include unlimited phone time, 2 prenatal visits, home support during labor, continuous presence in the hospital or birth center, 1 postpartum visit. I do massage, aromatherapy, and I have all the wonderful doula tricks in my bag ready for you.

Homebirth is growing because it is a safe option and becaue when you choose to birth your baby in your home, you call the shots. In short it is your birth, your way. We provide all the prenatal care for low risk healthy mothers and babies. There are always 2 skilled experienced midwives at every birth. We take extra special care of you during the postpartum period. There are 3 visits in your home during the firsst week and 2 more visits in our office during the next several weeks.

We provide nutritional counseling, waterbirth options, lending library, childbirth education for homebirth families, breastfeeding support and consultation, and yes we do VBACs.

This service includes help with baby care, light housework, cooking, laundry, errands, breastfeeding support. I work both days and overnight. I have a good deal of experience with twins.
