ALACE stands for the Association of Labor Assistants and Childbirth Educators. We train labor assistants/birth doulas, offer a childbirth education certification home-study program and provide referrals to doulas and childbirth educators across the country. We also have a mail order bookstore that contains titles on women's health, pregnancy and childbirth, and other related topics. ALACE's mission is to empower women to trust in their bodies to safely and dependably give birth.

ALACE trainings were created by midwives and are rooted in the midwifery model of care. This is a woman-centered philosophy that supports natural childbirth as the safest option for birth and honors the pregnant woman's choices in childbirth. ALACE professionals are trained to educate birthing women and their families and to support strength, confidence and joy in birth. ALACE professionals take a holistic approach to pregnancy and childbirth, offering care that pays attention to the spiritual, emotional and physical experiences of this life changing event.
