Dr. Brent Mathieu is a naturopathic and homeopathic physician in practice in Boise since 1992, and previously in Billings, MT from 1980 - 1991. He provides holistic health care in harmony with Nature and Green Man wisdom, specializing in second opinions on health conditions, holistically, by coaching and consulting on how to live a lifestyle in harmony with nature, and one's own self healing ability.

In the interest of making Greenman Wisdom and Urgent Natural Health Care accessible to everyone, my services run $80/hour or $40/half hour, with low-income sliding-scale option upon request. Urgent Natural Care

As a naturopathic doctor, I seek to understand the cause of disease through listening, observing and taking considerable histories in order to explore symptoms in detail. This is an expression of Greenman Wisdom.

From this process, an assessment of the individual's health condition is made, and a treatment plan is created. Typically, treatment includes nutritional counseling on food habits and recommendations for quality nutritional or herbal supplements. Common in my practice is the use of classical homeopathy - finding one homeopathic remedy that energetically treats the whole person. As a Greenman physician, my goals are to respect and assist the healing power of Nature to act to restore health, i.e. to empower the individual to access the healer within one's self.

Despite the breadth of my assessments and the attention that I give each patient, my services can be provided in as little as one session, and with my new Urgent Natural Health Care Service, I provide an option for individuals looking for natural, effective solutions to immediate and acute problems. In as little as 30-60 minutes, I can provide affordable, urgent, and natural care. My ability to help a patient find immediate relief is the result of my 29 years of experience in the field of natural health care, and the wisdom, knowledge, and intuition with which life has granted me. In one session, I can assess the severity of the condition, whether or not an M.D. is needed, and provide an integrated protocol of natural therapies.

So for a person with fatigue, for instance, a naturopathic physician encourages the individual to explain what their experience of fatigue is. What does fatigue mean to him or her, and what symptoms accompany the fatigue? The person is asked about lifestyle, exercise, employment, diet, rest, family health stresses in the person's life, and especially what is unique about how the person reacts and adapts to those stresses? A review of other aspects of health is done, for example how is the digestion? Are there headaches? dizziness? allergies? etc. A limited or extensive physical exam and laboratory tests may be performed as indicated.

Body Composition Analysis

Bioelectrical Impedence Analysis, or Bio-Impedence Analysis, commonly known as B.I.A. is a method of assessing your body composition; which is the ratio between fat and lean body mass. As an integral part of health and nutrition assessment, BIA can assist health practitioners help with weight management and natural health in numerous ways. Excess body fat in relation to lean body mass, a condition known as "altered body composition", can greatly increase your risks to cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and other chronic illnesses.

BIA fosters early detection of an improper balance in your body composition, which allows prevention, and, if necessary, intervention, to counteract negative health effects. BIA also serves to measure your progress as you work to improve your health.

Bodywork and Energetic Healing

Brent has over 30 years experience with therapeutic massage and energetic healing. Dr. Mathieu provides convenient 15-20 minute chair massage using acupressure, and longer therapy sessions that integrate massage with Reiki, polarity therapy, intentional healing, and prayer. Visceral manipulation such as the stomach for GERD (gastro-esophageal reflux disorder) helps tone and restore healthy function of the organ and tissue.


Health Coach

Health coach services are available, to assist you in successful therapeutic lifestyle program of diet, P1000483exercise, nutritional supplements and stress management. Dr. Mathieu is certified by Metagenics, Inc as a "First Line Therapy Healthcare Provider."

Health coaching is becoming recognized as a new way to help individuals "manage" their illnesses and conditions through lifestyle choices, especially those of a chronic nature such as Metabolic Syndrome. Health coaching is a method of guiding another to "discover" and address their own ambivalence to health behavior change. Health coaching gives health care providers a framework by which they can assist someone to identify issues, beliefs, and concerns that may hinder or support his/her lifestyle change or responsibility for health that lies ahead for the individual. Like traditional coaching, health coaches utilize goal setting, identification of obstacles, and use of personal support systems. The relationship between the coach and coachee is an accountability partnership focused on the overall health outcome goals as defined by healthcare practitioners and the patient.
