The International Qigong Foundation for Social Oncology

Description

"Qigong (Chi Kung) for Health" is a complementary healthcare practice based in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The International Qigong Foundation for Social Oncology is a non-profit organization dedicated to developing and teaching medical qigong and tai chi for health as well as other specific exercises for enhancing the health of the terminally ill, including cancer. Our "social oncology" groups here in the United States are modeled after the Cancer Recovery Association in China.

Part of an exciting new series in alternative and integrative healing now airing on PBS called, “Healing Quest”!

Profile and Credentials

Healthcare practitioners, their patients, and those who are interested in learning a basic qigong practice will find “Qigong for Health” a benefit to their daily health practice. Qigong, “Qi”, your vital life force, and “Gong”, the exercise we do to activate the vital life force, has been part of an ancient practice in China for over 2000 years. In China, qigong plays an active role in preventing and treating diseases, as well as protecting and strengthening health.

Taught by internationally recognized qigong teacher Karen Nesbitt, M.A., in Hawaii, China and Montana, “Qigong for Health” initiates a true balance between mind, body and spirit. Ms. Nesbitt has traveled and studied in China for several years, is a certified qigong instructor, co-author of “Qigong and Traditional Chinese Medicine” and gives workshops around the world. She also leads qigong tours to China and is the co-founder of The International Qigong Foundation for Social Oncology, a non-profit organization creating wellness through qigong promoting harmony and balance.

Philosophy and Comments

"The focus of Qigong is learning how to cultivate one's qi,
its secret is learning how to maintain it throughout life."

Work Hours and Fee Schedule

At the present time we offer workshops in "Qigong for Health" and Tai Chi at Dancing Dreamers Retreat Center in the mountains of Northwest Montana, Hawaii and China for cancer patients, healthcare practitioners and for those who want to preserve their health. We have recently started our programs in Yoga and Yoga Teaching Training (certified by Yoga Alliance). We also offer a "holistic" health spa including massage, aromatherapy and several body treatments. There are walking gardens within a "living" labyrinth.

We schedule retreats throughout the year for both groups and individuals. Please contact the foundation for further information.
