The Woodland Yoga Center offers classes for healthy living to people of all ages and abilities. We offer the following classes: Beginning Yoga, Dynamic Yoga Classes, Vinyasa Flow, Yoga For Seniors, Chair Yoga, Yoga For Kids, Yoga for a Healthy Back, Therapeutic Yoga (for Osteoarthritis, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) Sitting Meditation Group, Circle of Women, NIA, Belly Dancing and Workshops and Retreats
Profile and Credentials
Woodland Yoga Center Instructors Jim Neugass is a Registered Nurse in Hospice and a Certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher, and co-owner of Woodland Yoga Center. The Kripalu Yoga tradition emphasizes body awareness, breathing and alignment. He has been teaching Yoga and stress reduction classes for the last 4 years in health clubs and wellness centers in Boston area. He relocated to Brevard in 2002, and has taught classes in his home studio, the Lake Toxaway Community Center, Brevard Racket Club and The Woodland Yoga Center of Brevard. He also completed the 2-month residential internship program at the Stress Reduction Clinic of the University of Massachusetts. He is committed to assisting his students to experience less stress, transform beliefs and live a more healthy, balanced and peaceful life. Sandi Hartz has been teaching yoga in WNC for four years and is a co-owner of the Woodland Yoga Center. In addition to teaching her own classes (at Brevard Physical Therapy), she has taught at Blue Ridge Community College, the YMCA of Hendersonville, and at Cindy Dollar's Yoga Studio in Asheville. She completed the Asheville Yoga Center certificate course in 1999. With a strong background in Iyengar (alignment based) yoga, Sandi likes to incorporate many different yoga forms and traditions into her teaching methods - from gentle, nurturing postures to more challenging flowing yoga styles. Above all, she believes yoga should be fun. She is a member of the national organization, Yoga Alliance. Deirdre MacAlpine became a certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher in 2001 and has taught classes in her home studio, the Lake Toxaway Community Center, Dunns Rock Community Center, Brevard Racket Club, and is co-onwer of The Woodland Yoga Center. She returned to Kripalu in 2003 to become a Pregnancy Yoga Instructor. She has been a student of meditation for 30 years. She has studied massage therapy, positional therapy and eastern healing arts. Deirdre incorporates all of her practices into her yoga classes. Body awareness, breathing, and alignment are strong focuses. She believes that balance and living in the present are the key to health and a happy life.

Mission Statement The Woodland Yoga Center conducts a variety of classes and workshops in Brevard, North Carolina. Our classes are designed to provide participants with a set of tools that will contribute to a healthier life, a reduction in stress, greater flexibility, improved physical, emotional and mental health and promote an increased sense of well-being.
